About me

Having worked in the industry since 2005, I've built a wealth of experience amongst different teams and client settings (both in-house, and agency). I've learnt what to do and what not to do to ensure you achieve your business goals.

Since 2010 I've been a proponent of the hybrid-app movement, and firmly believe in the power of the web plaform (as can be seen today with Progressive Web Applications) - an early adopter of Phonegap / Cordova and Ionic, I harnessed my web development skills and the power and flexibility of the web platform to produce iOS and Android apps for some of the world's largest organisations.

I'm also a keen PHP developer, having worked with the frameworks PRADO, Yii and Laravel to produce performant and secure web applications.

I have experience and a keen interest in cloud platforms and modern solutions archtecture - particularly how to leverage cloud technologies to achieve scaleable and robust API infrastructure. I've worked with Amazon Web Services over the last 10 years, and I'm AWS Certified.

This experience between modern front-end frameworks, such as Angular & React, my underlying knowledge of core web fundamentals (semantic HTML, accessibility, CSS) and my love of back-end Dev Ops offers me a well rounded, full-stack perpective.

I've been fortunate to work with some great people and organisations over the years, allowing me to work with innovative technologies and push the boundaries of my own knowledge.

A particular career highlight was reaching #2 in the App Store (second only to Facebook Messenger) with the Telegraph Clearing app, which I produced from 2011 - 2017.

Recently I've really enjoyed using Web Components to produce on-screen graphics for the BBC's Super League Show - I used Stencil to create a number of data-driven, animated and Director / Producer controllable widgets that integrated with CasperCG.
